TAKASHI MURAKAMI
Born in Tokyo in 1962, Takashi Murakami is a Japanese visual artist. His nationality and culture of origin have an undeniable impact on his creative universe. Instigator of the Superflat movement, he creates works that appear colorful, joyful, even naïve. But behind the smiles of these polychrome flowers lies a conceptual purpose far less playful than that of Pop Art, with which Murakami is commonly associated. Here, we play with the kitsch and kawaii aura to deliver a message that is both dark and wonderful.
Flowers
One of the world's most expensive artists, Murakami never ceases to renew his artistic proposals. His use of NFT is a case in point. Conceived in 2021 and unveiled to the public in 2022, the Murakami Flowers series once again reveals the complexity and intimacy of the world-renowned artist's universe.
This collection is inspired by the world of Japanese game shows in vogue in the 1970s. The pixels, deliberately accentuated and simplified, convey a sense of nostalgia.
